What a beautiful day for the Burien Annual Block Party! And a perfect day for an ice cream eating contest. Here is a picture of one of the winners. Guess what the prize was? More ice cream!

Then, not to miss the sausage eating contest, with sausages provided by Dan The Sausage Man. If I overheard the crowd correctly, this “husky” won third year in a row.

And some cute cheerleaders on the side that were cheering everyone on!

Happy adults in the beer garden!

So if you missed it this year, be sure and check it out next year. It goes from Noon-Midnight. There is music, kids inflatable toys, kareoke, games and prizes.

If you eat at any of the locations below on Tuesday during the month of July, 5% of its sales will be donated to the Burien Arts Association: So eat, drink and be merry in July, because it’s all for a good cause. Burien Arts Association has been active since 1965 and working to bring art into our community. They provide gallery space for artists, outdoor theater during the summer months, and periodic art based events during the year. Currently they will bring two Shakespeare performances on July 26 and August 2; two jazz concerts July 19 and August 10; and a puppet theatre performance on July 13.

I’m positive that the sun will be sure and find us by the time this event arrives. Just to name a few; pancake breakfast, drama, dance, music, acrobatics, belly dancing, Japenese drumming, art, kid’s stage, a skateboard contest…and the list goes on. Located at the Burien Community Center, 425 S.W. 144th Street.

We are on our third week of the Burien Farmers Market. Rain or Shine you will find vendors every Thursday from 11–6 pm until October 9th, located between 152nd and 10th adjecent to Olde Burien. What else will you find? Vegetables, plants, flowers, baked goods, art work, jewelry, soaps, lotions, live music and more! For instance, Jack & Sons Unique Bird houses…made with antique mosaic tile and cedar wood. He also has bat houses!

And another mention of baked goods, because those are my favorite!

We’ve eaten their spiced bread and made French toast from the cinnamon swirl bread just last week.
Now besides food, music is the next best thing. Both times I’ve been at the market, Two Scoops Combo has been playing.

Come support the Burien Farmers Market. See you on Thursday!
