A thank you to Burien Toy Store, Goodie Gumdrops for sponsoring our Des Moines Parks and Recreation basketball team this year.   A strategic location on the corner of 152nd and Ambaum.  Instead of looking for alternative routes from school to home to avoid the chants of children “Can we go to Goodie Drops today?!”  I decided to move on the West side of Goodie Gumdrops so I don’t have to pass it everyday.  Thus diminishing the war cries just a bit.

Christmas gift ideas for kids

With our weather keeping us indoors we have managed to play every board game we have in stock.  Some we finally took out of the wrapper since last Christmas.  Yahtzee and Sorry have been a favorite, or a nice chess set is great year around.  For the younger kids they have beginner sets which gives directions as to what move each man can make. 

Then another favorite is the Electronic Monopoly.  Each player gets a credit card to start, so there is no bank as with the older version.  It plays for much highter amounts like thousands and millions.  It comes with a digital reader that adds and subtracts from your credit card.  I’ve been avoiding this game, but broke down and played it and realized how much fun it was!

Burien Holiday Pottery Sale at Moshier Community Art Center

Tukwila Mall-The Largest Indoor Mall in the Northwest!

With a grand reopening on July 25, Westfield Southcenter in Tukwila celebrated a $240 million expansion that makes it the largest indoor mall in Washington and Oregon.

Gov. Chris Gregoire and Tukwila Mayor Jim Haggerton were among the speakers at the morning ceremony.

Gregoire noted, “The expansion will create 1,600 additional jobs, on top of the 3,700 Washingtonians who already work here. That’s a lot of jobs for this area. Fun and chic clothes shopping has arrived in Burien.  Howard and Marge has cutting edge fashions, accessories and gifts right in our own backyard. Some of the New York and LA designers include Childish, Tarina Tarantino, Yummie Tummie (their claim to fame—as featured on Oprah), Sanctuary Clothing and Steady.

Owner Robin Dunkle is happy to say that this is a family-run business with her sister Jessica by her side as store manager.  The store is even named after Robin’s grandparents”Howard & Marge”.

Recently, my girlfriend from Denver came for a visit.  Always in the know of the latest trends and fashions, I look forward to her annual trip for inspirational beauty tricks.
